Rhode Island Airshow 2008
Rhode Island Airshow 2008, Naval Air Station Quonset Point (NASQP) North Kingstown, RI
Terrific show. The weather was NOT supposed to be good at all. Rain was predicted for the weekend of the show for over seven days. Even on the morning of the show, the weather forecast called for thundershowers in the mid to late afternoon. Well, this is one time where I was very glad the weather predictions were totally wrong. It was an absolutely perfect day. Sunny and dry the entire day.
However, it was not a perfect day for photography. The light was not great as it was very hot and hazy and lots of low clouds in the horizon making for terrible back-lit conditions. However, there were a few patches of blue sky and some pictures came out terrific.
Finally, the tremendous display by the British Red Arrows was outstanding. It was my first time seeing the RAF Demonstration Team and what an excellent show they put on.
Access to the base this year was much better than in 2007 when traffic was simply unbearable. This year ingress and egress was congestion free. Kudos to the local police and National Guard for excellent traffic management.
